Olympia Kebob House & Taverna founder Peter Nicholas immigrated to St. Louis from Greece and opened his modest little joint on McCausland Avenue 31 years ago. The business has remained in the Nicholas family through the decades, and during that time the restaurant has acquired an ever-expanding coterie of devotees. They come for the the full range of Greek favorites: saganaki set ablaze at the table, crisp-crusted spanakopita, outstanding gyros piled high with fresh vegetables and tender meat and smothered in tangy tzatziki. Service is fast and friendly, prices are affordable and the ambiance — "kind of like Cheers," as thirteen-year veteran staffer Sheila Roberts puts it — can't be topped.
