The Gateway PGA's annual golf sale isn't some dumping ground for loud shirts with uneven hems and boxes of mismatched shoes. Here, the merch comes straight from the pro shops of country clubs with initiation fees that are likely higher than your household's yearly net income — Old Warson, Westwood and Bellerive are just a few of them looking to unload items Friday, November 19, to Sunday, November 21. The sprawling Machinists Hall in Bridgeton will be filled with golf bags, balls, clubs, shoes, clothes and equipment marked up to 80 percent off. Trust us: After a long spring, summer and fall golf season, the last thing these golf pros want to do is schlep all that unsold merchandise back to their respective shops, so wheeling and dealing — particularly on Sunday — isn't unheard of. Plenty of PGA professionals will be on hand to offer some golf tips and tricks, and raffles take place throughout the weekend. Though the prices are rock-bottom, the goods are legit — so don't fret that those Polo ponies are all galloping the in the wrong direction (they aren't), or that the Titleist balls have the wrong number of dimples (they don't). Admission to this year's sale is only $5.
