Words can't quite capture the awesomeness of the décor at Dave Bailey's downtown restaurant, Bridge Tap House & Wine Bar — how, even on your second or fifth or eleventeenth visit, you do a double take. What to admire first? The chandeliers custom-built from twigs to resemble giant birds' nests? The tall wooden shelves of beer, wine and liquor behind the bar and the rolling library ladder the staff must climb to reach the built-in's tippity-top levels? The racks of wine glasses suspended by thin wire, so that at first glance they seem to hang in midair? Actually, what's most admirable is how Bailey and Brynne Rinderknecht, an interior designer (and Bailey's sister-in-law), have fused so many different elements over such a large space (the bar and both a lounge and a dining room on the mezzanine level) into a coherent, beautiful whole.
