In baseball parlance, the Midwest Bicycle Expo and Swap Meet is the Hot Stove League of the St. Louis bicycling world. It's when cycling fans gather in the dead of winter to share their enthusiasm for the coming spring. But more than that, the swap meet is the place to find great deals on bicycles and accessories, as shops and dealers from around the region look to sell off their excess inventory. In existence for a decade now, the event has yet to nail down a date or location for 2012, but Trailnet, which is organizing the swap for the first time, says it's looking at late January or early February. Stay tuned: St. Louis bicyclists can't afford to miss what — for one weekend each year — is the biggest and best bike shop in the Midwest.
