Best Pizza2011 Finalist See 2011’s Winner »
4235 E. Madison St., Seattle, WA 98112
Run by a well-traveled former upstate New Yorker, The Independent Pizzeria is not trying for fame, but it is aiming for greatness. A simultaneously thin and airy crust succeeds, and easily makes for one of the best pizzas in town. Really. The menu (and the place itself, for that matter) is teeny, but the flavors and textures will have you coming back for more. Try the arugula-topped prosciutto round, or a pie with anchovies, capers, olives, and Mama Lil's peppers. With a stone-covered wall and a view of Lake Washington, this cozy place also offers a small, carefully selected wine and beer selection to pair with your pie.
