More classic Western bar than tried-and-true dive, the Saloon's commitment to beer is a virtual bird-flip to the slew of freshly-minted twenty-somethings who invade downtown on the weekends thirsty for Red Bull and vodkas. Pioneer Square has a rich creative tradition, with plenty of artists, writers, and musicians working or living in the historic neighborhood. Just as the area's bureaucrats deserve a place to gather and drink after work, so too does its bohemian set. Thank God, then, that the Saloon has managed to stick to its guns as a genuine adult watering hole.
