Liberty adds some much-needed variety to the small cluster of bars on Capitol Hill's 15th Avenue East. With plush couches and fancy drinks, it's more stylish than most of the places on this strip. Sushi as bar food may seem incongruous, but the scallop rolls are quite tasty, as are the yellowtail hamachi and the Rainbow Roll. There are dozens of esoteric whiskeys behind the bar and a series of barreled cocktails aging in a hutch above the front door. For residents of the surrounding Capitol Hill neighborhood, Liberty is a place to meet friends for beers. It's not uncommon to see customers do their drinking over open laptops here.
