The second jewel in Tom Douglas' culinary crown is a mainstay for a downtown crowd looking for ambiance and food that are both upscale and unfussy. The open kitchen and its applewood grill are warm and inviting, even when volume levels reach a fever pitch on weekends (the restaurant stays open until 1 a.m. seven days a week). Evergreen items such as goat cheese fondue served with grilled bread and apples, fire-roasted shellfish with chorizo, or roast chicken are what's built Palace Kitchen's following of locals and visiting celebs, but the creative seasonal specials are what keep things fresh.
