Queen City Grill
2201 First Ave., Seattle, WA 98121

Although it easily could be mistaken for a new-money, new-cuisine nightmare, the Queen City Grill is the real deal. They do things with old-world style here: The elegant bar and dining room feel as if they belong in some sturdy old city like Boston or New York, but the casual, laid-back feel is all West Coast. Queen City knows how to make a perfect Caesar salad, too: The romaine is crisp, the thick dressing is unabashedly garlicky, and, best of all, the cheese has the salty tang of high-quality Parmesan. Much credit is due to the Grill's house-made Caesar dressing, a concoction of anchovy paste, garlic, eggs, cheese, Worcestershire, and red wine that's been with the restaurant for years.
