The Ramp
855 Terry Francois, San Francisco, CA 94158

Though San Francisco is an old port town boasting fine waterfront views, the opportunities for seaside wining and dining are somewhat limited. Skewed public policy on development has left vast swaths of the eastern shoreline a wasteland of dilapidated piers and disused industrial yards, rather than a vibrant waterfront. One welcome exception to this rule is the Ramp, a bayside bar that abuts the San Francisco Boat Works in the Dogpatch neighborhood. When the sun is shining, the Ramp is without equal in its capacity to make you feel like you've been whisked to Margaritaville, particularly after a few tequila shots and $2 tacos on Tuesday night. Its real selling point, however, isn't its average food and drink, but its strangely un-San Franciscan ambiance — including a claim to fame as the one tavern in the city where you can cast a fishing line in the water while sipping a drink.
