Redwood Park takes the prize for best melding art and nature. Built in 1972, this urban park is surrounded by redwood trees, but that's not the only green to be found at the foot of the Transamerica Pyramid. Picnic on the grass or admire the ferns from one of the many wooden benches. The figurative bronze sculptures of merrymaking children offer encouragement in the middle of a tough workday, as does the fountain shooting water several feet into the air.
