Exploratorium
Pier 15, San Francisco, CA 94111
(415) 528-4360
This museum of science, art, and human perception has something for every age bracket. We still remember making body-sized bubbles when we were kids and learning how light bulbs work. Now you can bring your offspring to the Exploratorium to live out the same great experience. Throw your toddler in a kid-friendly tornado or go feed the swans over in the stunning lake (no toddler throwing, please). You can also check out a full-scale (7-feet-tall) model of the Mars Rover Curiosity (for a limited time). And if you're on a budget, the museum is free on the first Wednesday of the month.
