Blue Bottle, one of the pioneers of third-wave coffee in San Francisco, made its name first at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market and then at this Hayes Valley kiosk, which dispatches hundreds of neighborhood residents off to the nearby park with full cups and brighter eyes. Some say Blue Bottle has the best cappuccino in town -- so creamy and smooth that it's almost like a low-calorie nonfat dessert. Others seek out its New Orleans-style and Kyoto-style iced coffees. At the Hayes Valley kiosk, the baristas emit far less attitude than those at any of the other coffee-geek havens.
