If you're looking to get a new pet, why not adopt a dog rescued from a high-kill shelter or abandoned by its owner? The German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County (GSROC), a nonprofit organization serving our area as well as greater LA, is dedicated to "rescuing, rehabilitating and re-homing purebred German shepherd dogs" in need. Along with adoptable dogs' sizes and approximate ages, the GSROC website includes multiple photos and gives you the truth about the animal's demeanor and needs. You can read up on a dog's known history, how it was rescued, if it can be around cats and children, if it requires special medical attention, etc.— all details absent from most rescue and shelter websites. The organization screens potential adoptive families, ensuring the dogs are going to good homes and that you are ending up with a dog that fits your lifestyle—a perfect match for both sides. All dogs from the GSROC are spayed or neutered, current on their vaccinations, and de-wormed. The minimum adoption donation is $350, plus $25 for microchip for dogs older than 1, or $450, plus $25 for microchip for dogs 1 year old and younger. The donation is tax-deductible and helps further the group's mission.

Linda I am proud to be a volunteer with German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County. Having volunteered with other groups, I can tell you there is no other rescue organization that not only rescues dogs that are desperate for help, but also makes sure they are placed in suitable homes where they will be cared for for the rest of their lives. They bend over backwards to make sure they match the right dog with the right family ... and are ALWAYS upfront with their adopters! I am lucky to be affiliated with them ...

Karen GSROC not only cares deeply for the dogs but also for people! They are the nicest loving people you'll ever meet. I feel honored to volunteer for them. I am so proud to be apart of a rescue that rehabilitates, cares deeply for, & trains not only the dogs but their volunteers. If you have a knack, skill or large heart, they will welcome you in!
