From a rack of sample dresses, you can pick a style that's most flattering for your shape and have it cut longer or shorter. Then select the color you like from a chart of 80 shades or choose from the prints they have in stock, ranging from floral to animal. Fabrics available include crêpe de Chine and silk charmeuse, perfect for special occasions (such as dressing your bridesmaids). Dresses take about four to six weeks to make and start at around $400. The shop also carries a range of pretty, feminine pieces by indie designers such as Kathy Kemp. For the finishing touch, head next door to Albertine General, which carries a gorgeous selection of antique, contemporary, and custom jewelry.
