Best Shoes That Won't Break The Bank

Don't let this place's generic-sounding name fool you. From leopard-print booties to platforms with a rainbow-colored heel, Shoe Market is anything but boring. Owners Dana Schwister and Erika Vala, the ladies behind the inexpensive boutique Mini Mini Market, have impeccable taste in footwear and stock their shelves with affordable brands for both men and women, such as Jeffrey Campbell, Frye, and Palladium. (If you want to splurge a little, they also carry a great selection of booties and heels by local designer Rachel Comey.) Is it just us, or does there always seem to be a sale here? Recently we stopped in, and the deal of the day was buy one pair, get the second half-off, meaning we could have spent less than $100 for a pair of sturdy Worishofer slip-on sandals (regularly priced at $55) and some Minnetonka moccasins (regularly priced at $45). This is probably why the friendly, laid-back staff is never pushy—they know you're going to buy it all. 160 North 6th Street, Brooklyn, 718-388-8495, shoemarketnyc.com (11211)

I shopped here and while service was good, and I bought shoes, there are two shops in manhattan, downtown which have better selections and prices- one on east side of broadway above Broome and one on Macdougall above Houston.
