Want a quiet drink before or after theater? Tired of places where everyone is crushed up in your face and tweeting every word they hear? Go to the Broadway Lounge on the eighth floor of the Marriott Marquis, a surprisingly welcoming place to let it hang without having to dart your eyes around and see who's watching. The lounge is spotted with nice-size tables situated far enough apart from one another that your neighbors can't hear your secrets, and even better, you can't hear their blathering. And the place is so déclassé that no one you know would ever be caught dead there. But it's perfectly swell, in a glorified-suburban-lounge sort of way. Bubble chandeliers hang from the ceiling, the walls are dotted with de rigueur video screens, and there's a sci-fi-style view of the exposed elevator sliding up the entire structure. To lubricate your conversation, be sure to order the Broadway Baby (strawberry puree, fresh fruit juice, and whipped cream) and relax.
