The Saintly City Cat Club's signature event is the crowning of the Household Pet King and Queen, which coincides with the St. Paul Winter Carnival. After two days of careful cat judging, a king cat and queen cat are selected and squished into tiny blue crowns and capes at a coronation ceremony. Who wouldn't like to see the people who do this? As it turns out, it's not just a bunch of old ladies; it's a bunch of both old and young ladies with tattoos of their cats. There are teenage boys with mullets and older gentlemen in spectacular vests, and absolutely everyone is wearing really amazing cat-themed clothing. The cats themselves — which are put through their paces in the judging phase — are just as beautiful and fascinating as their owners, so the event is truly a visual feast for anyone looking for a unique way to spend a weekend in January.
