You feel like you spent the night in the gutter, so why not spend the morning standing in an alleyway? Al's is a tiny diner with only 14 stools. Each weekend those that are hungry, patient, and even probably still a little drunk will wait outside for the opportunity to sit their butt on one of those spots. And the wait is worth it (Our tip: Bring some gas station coffee and chat up fun people while waiting in line). Order up the pancakes and you won't be disappointed. The batter is made on the hour with fresh buttermilk to meet customer demands. They're a little crunchy, a little tangy, and loaded up with syrup and butter, they're exactly the sort of sweet gut bomb you need. We recommend the walnut or blueberry varieties.
