Bridge For Runaway Youth
1111 W. 22nd St., Minneapolis, MN 55405
(612) 377-8800
According to a November 2011 report by KARE 11, on any given night in Minnesota some 2,500 young people between the ages of 16 and 21 have nowhere to go. No support, no money, no hope, and vulnerable to exploitation. Not everyone has a sympathetic family member to turn to. Sometimes families are a big part of the problem. The Bridge for Youth is one of several important programs that step in when kids have no other options except trying to survive on the streets. A 24-hour hotline, drop-in and family counseling, emergency shelter, and much more are among the services provided by the Bridge's staff and volunteers. Fewer than 80 beds are available to homeless young people in the state—hardly enough to meet the need—but the Bridge is doing its part.
