Keys Cafe and Bakery

It’s almost easy to take Key’s for granted. It's been serving us hot, diner coffee, mammoth caramel rolls, and mounds of hash browns mixed with all manner of kitchen-sink-style ingredients since 1973. That’s longer than a lot of us have been able to choke down solid food. With nine locations, it serves each neighborhood in its comfortable, familial style. A plate of corned beef hash is piled into a Kilimanjaro-sized mound, topped with eggs your way. It should come with a certificate promising you won't be hungry again for a week. Another favorite is the omelet with zippy garlic folded around rich and luscious cream cheese and twangy, vegetal spinach. Key’s is there on those mornings when the malnourished shakes begin, ready to fill your stomach and heart at the original tiny shop in St. Paul or in the bustling-with-a-full-bar downtown Minneapolis location, which also just happens to deliver.
