Dodie's New Orleans Seafood Cafe

Though there’s a newer, sexier Dodie’s a little farther up Greenville Avenue, we prefer the original. The staff has been here forever, making their way through the Lent crowd and serving up crawfish year after year, with an upbeat attitude that befits the Cajun fare they serve. We’re a sucker for their stuffed mushrooms, which can easily fill your tummy long before your entrée shows up, and just enjoyed a recent addition to the menu: the buffalo shrimp, served grilled with crazy-spicy dipping sauce. The giant (and cheap) schooners of beer don’t hurt, either. But what really keeps us coming back is simply a plate of fried shrimp. Every bite of that crispy, butterflied crustacean sends our arteries into shock and our mind back to Lousiana.
