Taco Joint
911 N. Peak St., Dallas, TX 75204
(214) 826-TACO
It’s no surprise that Taco Joint has Austin roots, with its quirky décor — wall murals, movie quotes on the napkin holders, some kind of weird obsession with Chuck Norris — and its laid-back atmosphere. But it’s still totally Dallas too, with images from Fair Park and Baylor employees in scrubs grabbing a quick breakfast. If you need to grab a quick one too, pick up the Gaston Grab, a to-go package of six tacos in two flavors. But if you can stay a while, pick a table or plop down at the bar by the window to watch the world go by. Of course, the world that goes by on Peak Street can be enthralling, disturbing or both, but we’re sure you can distract yourself by wolfing down the classic State Fair platter or the 5 Alarm burrito, which is a monster in a 14-inch tortilla. If that doesn’t make you feel like a Dallasite, buy a cup of Oak Cliff Coffee Roasters joe to wash down all that cheese and chorizo.
